"Literary Citizens work to nourish, cultivate, and engage with a community that values and supports the arts." (Renegade Writer's Collective)

The Hub began as senior Marian Holmes' independent, yet collaborative, creative project for Professor Steiner's Literary Citizenship class in the Spring of 2014. Holmes saw a great need for an increased web-based presence for the SUNY Oswego Creative Writing Program, and envisioned an online, digital-interface run by the students of said program. It was to be a place to share ideas, critique collaboratively, celebrate success, offer assistance, and promote the program which had inspired her endlessly during her four years at SUNY Oswego. She hoped that it would benefit the current students, celebrate our alumni, and inspire the incoming academic freshman to become a part of this wonderful program which SUNY Oswego offers.

With the collaborative effort of each and every member of the founding Literary Citizenship class, The Hub quickly grew: "We need a master calendar of all literary events on and around campus!" "What if we could have a place to post our work and get further critiques on them?" "I think we need a place to celebrate everyone in the department who has been published!" Everyone offered incredible suggestions and ideas which led to the website you see today.
